Our story begins on the Lauttasaari bridge in August 1994. Vesa was running his first ever marathon, while Kaisa was on her third. The joint marathon of our lives has taken us through Atlanta to the shores of Lake Oulujärvi.
We set up the company in 2006 because we wanted to offer people opportunities to explore Kainuu’s nature, especially Lake Oulu and Ärjä Island, even if they do not have a boat of their own. The operation started as a hobby, but has grown into a profitable business over the years.
Kaisa and Vesa both have educations in tourism and health care, and Vesa also trained as an officer. Kaisa has 15 years of experience in the health care sector, and Vesa has almost 30 years of experience as a trainer in combat casualty care and working as a peacekeeper.
We have been a foster family since 2007.
Our dogs are part of our family too, and we now have three East Siberian Laikas, two Brittanies and a Finnish Spitz. We breed dogs under the company name Tyrskyrannan kennel.
